I just spoke to our local representative about their storage system/program for people moving.  They are very similar to the PODS in price, but their units are all metal and not wood and fiberglass.  They say it doesn't attract moisture.  The account rep, Jamie Williams can be reached at 281-690-0433.  She says they can be reached and accommodate on a much shorter notice than PODS.  Kathye

Thank you for the introduction Kathye.

1-800-PACK-RAT truly is The Simplest Way to Store or Move Your Stuff. 1-800-PACK-RAT will deliver a 16' or a 12' portable storage unit to your home. You can pack it at your own pace. Then you have a choice of either storing it there at your location, storing it at our warehouse or having it moved to another location, like a new home.

1-800-PACK-RAT takes great pride in three simple concepts.
#1 You don't have to rent a truck
#2 You don't have to double move your stuff.
#3 We Provide the best containers, a patent pending lift system and ultimate customer service.

Check out our website at www.1800packrat.com or call me at 281-690-0433.

      Hi Kathye,
I came across this entry wanted to be sure you and your clients had a little more information for those choosing a portable storage option. Jamie relays some information that is not accurate- the PODS container, constructed of steel, aluminum, and marine grade lumber,(there is no fiberglass) actually repels interior moisture better than the metal siding construction of the the Pack Rat container which actually will develop "perspiration" in the humidity and drop moisture on the interior (and does use wood flooring)- I'm not sure what data she uses to support her statement. Furthermore, our containers are 1 ft taller and our design has been tested for over 10 years with success.

Additionally, availability of our containers to our customers is not any different than our competitors- we often deliver to customers same day- again, I'm not sure where her information comes from.

Finally, you may have forgotten, but your clients are provided a 10% discount on 1st month's rent as Re/max clients as PODS customers through our national affiliation as a "Re/max approved supplier"

Thought you'd like to know this information.

        Rick,
I apologize if the information that I have provided is incorrect. The information was obtained from a PODS call center agent.

In regards to availability, we secret shop the PODS call center on a weekly basis to determine your most current and up to date delivery turnaround times.

In regards to the 10% discount that PODS provides to ReMax, 1-800-PACK-RAT provides the same discount in addition to 10% off transportation costs.

I honestly believe that the portable storage industry as a whole is a "great idea" and the average consumer does not make a decision to use a particular company based on the materials used in the construction of the storage units. In my opinion, consumers will chose a company that they are most comfortable with. That includes, but is not limited to, the level of customer service, professionalism, location, pricing, innovation, convenience and simplicity.
